Sales and Marketing Integration Needs No Reminder

I was going to wait to post this just before you left the office, in the hopes that it will put a smile on your face. But patience is not one of my natural strengths.

You are probably going to see a lot of posts about love, sharing and generosity this Valentine's Day. All great and wonderful reminders that when we are other focused, we are a better human race. Personally, witnessing the success of others that I have helped gives me the greatest joy.

So it might surprise you that I am in the anti-Valentine's day camp. Not because, as some would say, it is a forced commercial holiday that puts expectations on us that if they forget to get/do something, then we are jerks. And not because I am a bitter, single person who doesn't need the reminder that I am a lone loser.

I am anti-Valentine's day simply because I think it is sad, for some, that a once a year reminder is needed to be other focused and grateful at all.

Why customer surveys will not increase customer retention.

Did you know that the majority of women who get flowers or candy on Valentine's day think the giver is trying to cover an affair? Did you know that your customers are annoyed with those quarterly surveys that talk all about you, and do nothing to improve their experience with you?

This applies to your business and customers in the exact same function. If you ignore the customer experience with your business on a everyday basis, they are one click away from their next date. From the moment they land on your website to the time you get a credit card numbers, it is only their experience that matters.

Remember the Golden Rule: He who has the gold makes the rules.

Make this the last Valentine's day the last one you spend with bad clients, complicated processes, or alone. Learn more about what the first 3 steps to sales and marketing integration is about.

Or perhaps this is one of those things that you already know your business should be doing. So have you asked yourself why you are not doing it already? Who is holding you accountable?

First step starts with you. Show YOURSELF some love on Valentine's day.
