What does it take to be the best?

I went to church yesterday and the priest started his homily with, "Two guys were sitting next to each other on the Boston to LA flight."

This is rest of the story...

One guy was a college professor. The other a farmer. After a while, the professor says, "I'm bored. Let's play a game."

The farmer asks, "What kind of game?"

The professor says, "I'll ask you a question. If you don't know the answer, you pay me $5. Then you ask me a question and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $5."

The farmer says, "I'm gonna take a nap."

So, the professor says, "Let's make this interesting. I'll ask you a question. If you don't know the answer, you pay me $5, but then you ask me a question and if I don't know the answer, I'll pay you $500."

The farmer says, "OK. Let's try it."

The professor asks, "How far away is the moon?"

The farmer reaches into his pocket. Pulls out a $5 bill and hands it to the professor saying, "No clue."

The professor smiles and says, "OK. Ask me a question."

The farmer asks, "What animal goes up a hill with three legs and comes down the hill with 4 legs?"

The professor thinks. Then gets on his phone and searches the internet. Then emails all his professor friends, but comes up empty. He finally gives up. Reaches into his pocket. Pulls out $500 and hands it to the farmer, saying, "I don't know."

The farmer puts the $500 in his pocket, fluffs up his pillow and closes his eyes to take a nap.

Then the professor asks, "What animal is it?"

The farmer pulls $5 out of his pocket, hands it to the professor and falls asleep.

Are you smarter than everybody around you? Is what's in your head costing you money?
