Having a diverse background in sales and business development, I approach marketing from a sales perspective, with a strong focus on strategy. I head up the sales and strategy side of 710 Studios, while Heather Hurczyn heads up the creative and delivery side.
Do you ever not tell people you are good at something because you are afraid they may ask you for help all the time? I know how to fix things-cars, appliances, electronics, etc... even if I've never done it before, I know how to figure it out or how to find help. All of my family knows this, some of my friends do, and that keeps me busy.
When I drive by a car broken down on the side of the highway with its hood up, I always wonder what's wrong and if it is something I could fix. At the same time, I wonder how that person got there in the first place? Bad luck? Lack of routine maintenance? Something simple they just don't understand how to fix?
As it turns out, helping businesses is very similar.
I think it's important to surround yourself with good mentors. I appreciate what Rick and Carole have done to help our business, and I try to put the same amount of energy into helping our clients. There is a lot of advice circulating the internet and people are often trying to decipher what's real and what's fluff. It is tough for our agency to keep up with the latest trends, I'm not sure how a business owner who is not involved in digital marketing can do it. There are so many businesses that are awesome in real life, but when you look them up online, let's just say- they don't live up to expectations. If someone happens upon a business like that before they meet in real life, how will anyone ever know how awesome they are? It's frustrating to see how often this is the case, but very rewarding to help a business fix this and watch them grow.
Today, when people ask my advice on how 710 Studios could help their business, I strive to offer them a solution to which they would respond, "That would be amazing!" ....and then help them find that. We have built websites, eCommerce stores, devised Inbound Marketing Game Plans, and then implemented those plans and managed companies' marketing for them. Some companies specialize in a particular vertical, but I specialize in helping the business owners distill the vision in their head, and Heather helps them portray it online in front of their prospects.
