Embracing Yourself The Secret to Business Success

Happy Valentine's Day! Today is well known for exchanging gifts among lovers and couples. You know, all those hearts and flowers! But it is also a day to celebrate and love what we do and who we are.

The key to self-reflecting and appreciating oneself is to take some time off from life's daily hustle and bustle.

Practicing self-love is equally important for your business.

As a business professional or entrepreneur, you need to recognize your strengths and weaknesses AND appreciate and mark your accomplishments.

Being Real at Work

Being your authentic self at work is just as important as when you're with friends or family. It helps you with connecting to others and building trust. And in sales, where you're always talking to people, that's super meaningful.

The need for approval hinders business success

Sometimes, our need for the approval of others makes us put on armor and mass so that they'll see us in a certain way. But what we don't realize is that in sales conversations, that makes people distrust us and, therefore, do not share information with us.

So if you're not able to uncover the urgency and impact of a problem with a buyer because they won't share information with you, you also find yourself putting a mask on and armor in order for people to see you in a certain way because you think that it gives you more credibility. It is actually eroding what credibility we have.

You don't need to be the smartest person in the conversation. In fact, it's better if you're not. Authenticity comes with transparency.

You're not alone.

But don't worry; you're not alone in this because 60% of sellers worldwide, out of data from over 2 million, show that they struggle with the need for approval in the sales process.
It prevents them from getting to decision-makers and, asking tough questions and building trust with buyers.

Limiting social media time for business success.

One of the ways that you can get over your need for approval and your everyday life is to limit the amount of time you spend on social media. (Insert colon capital O emoji here!!)

When we compare ourselves to others and find ourselves lacking, we feel the need to somehow make it up. Show up as you are. Stay off social media.

Start small by first tracking how much time you're actually spending there. Instagram or Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn --aim to reduce that amount of time by 5 minutes a day.

Then, you could schedule a time each day when you're going to check your social media. It could be during your lunch break. Or maybe it's as you're waiting in line at the grocery store.

Instead of going cold turkey, giving yourself small pieces of it will help you be more consistent and not spend too much time feeding your need for approval on social.

Take a moment:

So, take a moment this Valentine's Day to appreciate your achievements and pat yourself on the back. Whether making sales or doing your best at work, you're fantastic! Remember to love who you are and what you do.

As business owners and entrepreneurs, we hold the key to our own success.

It is up to us to shape our future. It starts with loving and believing in ourselves. So, let's raise a toast to being authentic and achieving business success!

Happy Valentine's Day, and here's to loving yourself and your work!
