Smarketing and Inbound Networking- Bedfellows?

Why might focusing on Entreprenuers and Small Businesses be a good sales strategy?

I hope I am not letting the cat out of the bag, but this is the only strategy I can think of, right now, that makes sense for a sales director of a software company to pursue. Not that it should be the only one, but like everything- have more than one egg in the basket. Maybe it is the only one I can think of because it is one that I use.

Smarketing for Entreprenuers with ADHD

Posted by Carole Mahoney  6/10/12 9:52 PM

Can the Smarketing approach change your business, or your life?

Last week I talked with an entreprenuer who has a child with ADHD. I have heard many life and business coaches say that nearly every entreprenuer is, or has, some form of ADHD. I don't doubt I am one of those, even though I've never been diagnosed. (ask me sometime how long it took me to find an image for this blog! Not sure what ADHD is? Check out this funny video.) But this isn't about me. (and if you clicked on the video, assume you have ADHD too)

Got Revenue? Need More? You pick: Sales, Marketing, or Door #3?

A salesman is a better marketer or a marketer is a better salesman?

These days, if you are not entreprenuerial in some way- you are being left behind. It is no longer a phrase exclusive to small busineses and start-ups. The most successful company founders and CEOs know that the entreprenuerial mindset is a major component to 21st century innovation and growth.

The sales strategy you need to kill now.

Are your sales scripts creating sales zombies that kill your sales?

I was asked recently what my opinion of sales scripts are. I hesitated to say that I think they are a complete waste of time and create lazy salespeople, simply because many believe that they need them and I didn't want to chance offending the person asking. But the truth is, sales scripts allow sales people to turn their brains off and stop listening to their prospect. Sales scripts= sales zombies.

Why are Marketers Afraid of Smarketing?

Posted by Carole Mahoney  4/30/12 5:16 PM

You can teach sales to do marketing.

You can't teach marketing to do sales. Perhaps that is why you will have a hard time finding a college program that offers a sales degree. Most sales people have learned on their feet, in real life, not behind the pages of a book.

If you are both the Sales & Marketing person in one, how can Smarketing help you?

This is a question I am asked frequently, most recently at the Maine Marketing Association lunch and learn where Rick Roberge and I talked about common sales and marketing myths and how to debunk them.

Lead Quality a Problem? The #DIRFT Method & Smarketing

Posted by Carole Mahoney  4/11/12 9:32 AM

“Quality is caused, not controlled.”

#DIRFT, or (Doing It Right the First Time) is a phrase that has come across my radar a lot lately. The absolute critical importance of quality is a point that was raised on my April Fool's day post.

Mahoney Internet Marketing to Close Doors

Posted by Carole Mahoney  4/1/12 9:00 PM

It's been a fun 5 year run. Until today. Because as of today, the begining of Q2, MiM is no longer accepting new clients.

No, this is not an April Fool's day joke post.

This is real.

"Why stop now, why give it up?" Might be your next question.

Simply because, (despite what some may claim) marketing alone, Internet marketing, even Inbound Marketing, is not enough to grow and create a successful business with long term ROI.

Smarketing is.

"Isn't marketing important?" Come on, really? If you are a regular here, I don't really have to answer that, right?

Do you think I am a fool to stop chasing down the Internet marketing agency idea in a time of it's largest growth?

Am I a sucker to stop focusing on a company that has (nearly) doubled revenue & profitability every year?

Do I know something you don't?

Have you also been asking yourself;
